Architectural & Interior Design Photography both are a much more refined style of photography, with no room for error. Because many more factors are taken into consideration:
Pre-scouting
Pre-scouting is done usually the week-of or the day before the actual shoot. On a location pre-scout, items investigated and taken into account are:
- Time(s) of day actual shooting is optimum
- Sun or light location
- Weather
- Equipment Needs
- Outside distractions - traffic, construction, access to location
Preproduction stills are taken to verify image compostiton and other factors like lighting
Shooting Day
During the actual shoot, several hours are usually required just for one room. Several different lenses, lighting, lighting colors are used to create the optimum images. Images are shot in RAW and can be as large as 20 megabytes per image. This is far large size print. RAW stores all detail of the exposure as opposed to a typical jpeg where the balance, tone and highlights are chosen automatically.
Post Production
Even with the best equipment and lighting, post production is required to balance each image. So techniques such as layering, and blending of as many as twenty exposures are used to create one perfect image. All images are prepared for print with several sizes created depending on the clients needs.
